Last night, I stayed up too late again. I wasn't watching Dollhouse this time - I finished that a couple of days ago. But I did spend a bit of time watching Joss Whedon and Tahmoh Penikett at NY ComiCon in 2009. There were a couple of quotes from that that really helped me formulate some of what I'd been thinking about the show since finishing the 2nd season, so I've sprinkled them in here.
"I'm such a bitter, sad man...and this is my bitter, sad show - welcome to it!"
I wish I'd watched those clips before I watched the show—especially Season Two. It might have changed my expectations. My first, brief review was that it was better than I'd been led to expect, albeit rushed, and with unnecessary cruelty at the end. I stand by that.

I'm just sayin': On Jill Scott and a big can of worms
So, some of you know that Jill Scott opened a big ol' can of worms wrote an opinion piece for Essence magazine in which she said that interracial dating - especially Black men who marry White women - carries with it a "sting" for Black women, having to do with the shared historical experience of African Americans. Here's her full (short) piece. Take a look at it, because my summary is a clumsy one.
Not surprisingly, there's been a lot of discussion of it, a lot of it heated.

I'm just sayin: Oh, Honey, No.
Why is this facial hair happening? This is not the only example I've seen recently, but he's the one I was sneaky enough to get a picture of (I tried to figure out how to put a black box over his eyes, but am not that savvy).

Previously on Battlestar - DRAMA!
Bastille Day (1:3)
Now on Battlestar: crusty old alcoholic continues to be a crusty old alcoholic. How long is it going to take for people to get sick of his alcoholic ass?
So, there's an issue with the water. And - what is this? There's drama between Adamas senior and Junior? Shock!
